What is an API key?

An API key is like a password that lets Synfliq talk to Claude AI on your behalf. When you connect your key, your Anthropic account is billed directly for the AI calls Synfliq makes — at standard Anthropic pricing with no additional markup.

Synfliq never sees your billing details, payment information, or Anthropic account credentials. The key itself is stored encrypted and used only to make requests on your behalf.

Is it safe?

Your API key is handled with the same care as a password. Here's what we do to keep it secure.

Encrypted at rest Your key is stored using AES-256-CBC encryption. It is never stored in plain text.

No logging of your content Synfliq does not log your prompts, uploaded documents, or generated diagram content.

Revoke anytime Delete or disable the key in console.anthropic.com and access is revoked immediately.

No training on your data Anthropic does not use API inputs for model training by default. Your content stays yours.

Step by step

How to get an API key

Takes about two minutes. You'll need an Anthropic account — they're free to create.

Go to the Anthropic console
Visit console.anthropic.com and sign in, or create a free account if you don't have one.

Open API Keys
Click API Keys in the left sidebar. You may need to add a payment method before creating a key.

Create a new key
Click Create Key and give it a name — we suggest Synfliq so it's easy to identify later.

Copy the key
The key is only shown once — copy it now and keep it somewhere safe. It will start with:
sk-ant-…

Paste it into Synfliq
Follow the steps below to connect it in the app.

Click your avatar
Your avatar is in the top-right corner of the Synfliq app. Click it to open your account menu.

Select "Connect API key"
Choose Connect API key from the dropdown menu.

Paste your key and save
Paste the key into the input field and click Save API key. Your account switches to BYOK mode immediately — no credits needed from this point on.

Yes. Any valid Anthropic API key works with Synfliq, including keys issued under enterprise contracts or reseller agreements. Billing flows through your existing Anthropic relationship.

Delete or disable the API key in console.anthropic.com. Access is revoked immediately — Synfliq cannot make any further API calls once the key is invalid.
